Pastor John Wilson, Jr.

A native of Newport News, Virginia, Pastor Wilson is the youngest of 3 children born to Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson, Jr. He is a product of the Newport News Public School System, graduating with honors in 1983 from Warwick High School. Following high school, Pastor Wilson attended Florida A&M University’s School of Business and Industry and in 1987 graduated with honors. While at Florida A&M University, Pastor Wilson was selected to participate in 3 different business internships, living in Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

In addition, Pastor Wilson is a 1992 Graduate of the Duke University’s Divinity School, where he served as the University’s Black Campus Minister and Advisor and Director of the Duke’s Modern Black Mass Choir. While at Duke, Pastor Wilson was the twice recipient of the Benjamin E. Mays Scholarship, given by the Fund For Theological Education. During his last year at Duke’s Divinity School, Pastor Wilson was selected by the Fund For Theological Education to participate in a year-long study of Urban Ministry in Los Angeles.

Furthering his education, Pastor Wilson received a M.A. from Temple University in 1997 where he also served as Advisor and Director of the University’s Gospel Choir and in May of 2005 received a Masters of Sacred Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. His ultimate goal is to receive a Ph.D. in Religion.Pastor Wilson is married to the former Carmella Baxter of Philadelphia and they are the proud parents of Jadyn Camille.

In 1990, Pastor Wilson was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ, by Bishop Samuel L. Green Jr., Presiding Prelate of the Second Jurisdiction of Virginia and General Board Member. Pastor Wilson has served in ministries in Maryland, North Carolina, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and Florida.

Pastor Wilson is active in the local, district, Jurisdictional and National levels of the Church of God in Christ.  He stands vigilant in his belief that "Holiness is Still Right!"
